Piedmont Park Fire District Achieves ISO Class 1 Rating
We are proud to announce that the Insurance Services Office (ISO) has completed its current assessment of Piedmont Park Fire District, resulting in an ISO Class 1 rating.
Out of approximately 50,000 fire departments surveyed across the United States, only 1% share the honor of an ISO Class 1 rating, placing Piedmont Park Fire District among the elite in fire protection services.
What is the ISO Rating?
The ISO evaluates a fire department’s capabilities using the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS), which is based on nationally accepted standards developed by organizations such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials (APCO) International. The FSRS takes into account three primary areas of the community’s fire suppression capabilities:
- Emergency Communications: The effectiveness of the 911 call center.
- Fire Department: The department’s response capabilities, including staffing, equipment, and training.
- Water Supply: The availability and adequacy of the water supply for fire suppression.
In addition to these core areas, the ISO assessment also includes a Community Risk Reduction section, recognizing efforts in fire prevention, public fire safety education, and fire investigation.
