In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the Piedmont Park Fire District has faced a demanding week, with personnel working tirelessly to assist the community through difficult times. Since the storm’s impact, firefighters and emergency responders have been engaged in a variety of critical tasks, including search and rescue operations, damage assessments, clearing blocked roadways, responding to routine emergencies, and conducting welfare checks on residents.

The department extends its heartfelt gratitude to all personnel for their dedication and long hours of service to the Piedmont Park community. Their commitment has been instrumental in addressing the challenges brought by the hurricane, ensuring the safety and well-being of the district’s citizens.

Support from local and state agencies has also played a significant role in the district’s recovery efforts. Piedmont Park Fire District would like to recognize and thank Greenville County Emergency Management and the Greenville County Fire Chiefs’ Association for their leadership, support, and logistical assistance during the days following the storm.

The department was fortunate to partner with various industry professionals, both from within the state and across the country, who provided much-needed aid to the region. Special thanks go to South Carolina State Fire for mobilizing crews that contributed to the recovery efforts.

Several organizations and agencies collaborated to assist with search and rescue efforts, as well as clearing debris and restoring access to roadways in the district. The Piedmont Park Fire District extends its appreciation to the following groups for their invaluable support:

  • The South Carolina Forestry Commission
  • Louisiana USAR Task Force 2
  • Duke Energy
  • SC Task Force 4
  • South Carolina Department of Transportation (SC DOT)
  • Greenville County Roads and Bridges
